‘Celebrating Diversity in English Language Teaching’
On 24th July VUS (Vietnam USA Society English Centers) hosted the 10th (yes, 10th!) annual TESOL conference in Ho Chi Minh City.
To my shame, this was the first I’d heard of such an event despite living here for nearly four years. Where were they? Why did no one at work seem to know about it? Why hasn’t there been a comparable conference hosted by ILA – my school and a huge VUS competitor? I don’t know, but for sure, the fact that it exists has greatly improved the image of VUS in my eyes.
The range and quality of the speakers was impressive and over 1000 people were in attendance – the vast majority of who were local Vietnamese teachers.
